Gaston's Chicken Drumsticks

I love themed cookbooks and trying the recipes. This recipe is from the Disney Villains cookbook. These drumsticks would fit right in on the menu at Gaston's favourite tavern!. They're the perfect dinner to satisfy a hearty appetite. Ingredients 8 chicken drumsticks 3 tbsp olive oil 2 cloves garlic, grated 1 tsp lemon zest 2 tbsp mixed herbs 1 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp black pepper Method 1.  Heat oven to 220° C. Fit a baking tray with a baking rack. 2.  In a large bowl, toss together all the ingredients until the chicken is evenly coated. Arrange the pieces on the rack. Bake until golden and crispy, about 40 minutes. Serve immediately. I made these for Halloween. STAY WICKEDLY GOOD!

Hickory-Honey Ham...Christmas With The Kranks

I got this Christmas movie cookbook during our 2022 holiday to LA see  here  and I still haven't made anything from it, so for our Christmas in July, I thought I would try the Hickory-Honey ham from the movie Christmas with The Kranks. Scenes from the movie where Nora is running towards the last ham in the store, only to be outsmarted by an elderly lady. I managed to get a couple of reduced shoulder hams from woolies back in May so this gave me an excuse to try a recipe from the book. We also got some Hickory smoking chips for the BBQ. It is a ham that has been smoked over Hickory wood chips for several hours, served with a honey gravy, not out of a tin which it is in the movie. Ingredients 8 cups hickory or other hardwood chips 2 large aluminum foil pans 1 (4kg) fully cooked  bone in ham 1/4 cup salted butter 1 shallot, minced 1/3 cup honey 1/4 cup dark brown sugar 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar 1 tbsp wholegrain mustard 1 tsp ground ginger 1/...

Pooh"s Puffed French Toast

Another delicious shared Disney recipe. Pooh's puffed french toast is served for breakfast/brunch at 'Pooh's Corner" situated in the Crystal Palace restaurant dining area located in the Magic Kingdom Disney world. This was absolutely delicious, crispy coating and fluffy inside. This is the puffed french toast served at the Crystal Palace. Photo sourced from internet.  I found the batter to be a bit on the thick side so I gradually added a little more milk until the batter was a bit thinner, but that was just my personal opinion and as I have never seen or tried the actual puffed toast at Disney I have nothing to compare it with, but it turned out well. It is described as a cross between french toast and a freshly made donut/fritter. The shared recipe uses Texas toast loaf, a thick sliced more squarish loaf to most sliced breads, the increased thickness retains moisture and softness better than regular sliced bread. Unfortunately we don't g...

Walt's Chilli...Disney Recipe

Another shared Disney recipe. This one is based on Walt Disney's own recipe, apparently, chilli was one of his favourite meals. image sourced Disney parks The chilli is served at the Carnation Cafe in Disneyland Park. There are a couple of different recipes floating around the net so not sure how authentic they are. I will also try the other one and see which one my family prefers. This one went down a storm with my family, it was spicy but not overpowering, and the added chunks of tender beef made it even more delicious. It is definitely a keeper in my house. This recipes asks to be slow cooked on the stove top but I did mine in the oven as I wasn't too keen on having to constantly keep an eye on it. I brought it to a simmer on the stove top then covered it with the lid and slow cooked it in the oven. Ready to go into the oven. coming out of the oven. It contains stew meat suitable for slow cooking as well as minced beef, it als...

Crème De La Crème A La Edgar

Here is another Disney recipe, this one is for a warm milky cinnamon infused drink.  Crème de la crème a la Edgar featured on the Disney movie The Aristocats.  Edgar, the loyal butler to the rich millionairess owner of Duchess and her adorable kittens. After over hearing that Madame Bonfamille was going to leave her entire fortune to her precious cats, makes their favourite bedtime drink (laced with sleeping pills) before taking them into the countryside and leave them there. This was another recipe share, there are two of them. The first one, I was not too keen on the ingredients as it used a lot of cinnamon and nutmeg which I think would overpower the drink. The second added honey but not cinnamon or nutmeg which while watching that clip it looks like they were added to the drink, but I will certainly try the second one. Below are the shared recipes. Both recipe pictures sourced on shared Disney recipes sites. So I decided to make one up myself, tasti...

Grey Stuff...Disney Recipe

“Try the grey stuff, it’s delicious! Don’t believe me? Ask the dishes!”   During the coronavirus quarantine lot's of foodie places have been sharing certain recipes, and I was delighted to come across some Disney shared recipes, I will certainly be trying a good few of them.                  This first one is for a dessert called Grey Stuff which comes from the Beauty and the Beast film..'try the grey stuff, it's delicious", which is available at the Be Our Guest restaurant. It is an Oreo filled whipped vanilla and chocolate dessert topped with sprinkles that has a delicious creamy almost butterscotch flavour to it. It calls for 8 oz cool whip which is not available here in Australia, so I tried it with whipped cream stabelized with icing sugar to make it stiffer, for every one cup of whipping cream add 3 tbsp icing sugar, start by whipping the cream with a whisk attachment, then slowly add the icing sugar, co...
