A poem for Hamish By Karen Irvine A year has come and gone With you no longer by our side, We remember you with fondness Silent tears we've often cried. With reminders of you Hamish Often sitting there, From years of photo's popping up To simply finding your hair. When you crossed the rainbow bridge You left the biggest space, The sixth member of our family No longer in his place. 17 years of memories You etched into our hearts, Your faithfulness never wavered But your time had come to part. Now we're back to where we were Before you came along, Uneven, but the memories of you Still linger on. A year has come and gone Since we heard your tiny feet, Clicking right beside us Until you got your treat. The days are growing longer More sunshine that we see, And through the blue sky, the birds and bees We know you're running free. Poem by Karen Irvine 19th October 2026.
