The main reason for our trip back to Scotland in 2014 was because my dad was really quite poorly and we knew it was only a matter of time so we made the journey home to spend some time with him. We also managed to squeeze in a few sightseeing trips to help ease this particularly sad time for the kids. We stayed with my mum in Kelso for 3 weeks while we were in Scotland, visiting dad in the care home as often as possible. The girls were born in the borders, we moved to Kelso from Aberdeen in February 1998 when Darren was 6 years old, so this was the place they knew from birth and had gone to nursery and primary school, so it was a great chance for them to relive some old memories, especially Cerys who was only 4 years old at the time of moving to Australia.
