Evil Witch & The Poisoned Apple Milkshake

Who doesn't love milkshakes. There are so many flavours and varieties to choose from, the list is endless. I made some apple sauce for dinner and had some left over. To make the apple sauce combine 3 apples, peeled, cored and cut into chunks with 2-3 tablespoons of cold water, 1 tablespoon sugar, 2 teaspoons lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon in a saucepan. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium, cover and cook for 10-12 minutes or until apples have softened. Allow to cool then puree until smooth. Unicorn Layered Yogurt

My youngest LOVES anything Unicorn. She would give her right arm to be able to have Unicorn coloured hair but unfortunately she can't because of school, but anything else Unicorn and she goes all mushy. This Unicorn layered yogurt is so easy to make the kids can help with it. All you need is some vanilla yogurt and food colouring. Divide equal amounts of vanilla yogurt between 4 bowls, add a couple of drops of food colouring to each separate bowl, mix to combine, then layer a dessert bowl with each colour yogurt. Top with whipped cream and sprinkles. Makes for a very colourful dessert, not to mention cute. The kids will love it.  Enjoy.

Night of The Living Dead Brownie Cake

Jodie and myself have been putting our heads together to come up with things that we could make for Halloween. Trawling the ever handy internet for ideas. Jodie suggested a brownie graveyard with gravestones so we decided to put the two together and make a brownie gravestone with 'someone' trying to get out of a coffin... Hence..The night of the living dead! It's not the cough that carries you off-it's the coffin they carry you off in!  😁 My gran used to say that to us kids when ever we had a cough! To make the shape of the headstone, Jodie fashioned some some tinfoil into a gravestone shaped mould in which I poured the white chocolate and a little swirl of black food colour. Then cut the brownie into a coffin shape. The outside texture of the brownie gave a fantastic creepy effect, which I thought was perfect for how I wanted the overall appearance to look. Ingredients 1 brownie tray bake kit 5 chocolate finger biscui...

Pipe spider web shapes onto a lined baking tray. Set aside to set. For the spiders, melt 100 g dark chocolate melts following packet instructions. Place in a small zip lock plastic bag and cut off a small piece of one corner. Pipe spider legs onto a lined baking tray and top with M&Ms for the bodies. Set aside to set. Once set carefully remove the webs and spiders from the parchment paper and set on your desired plate. How fun do these look for a kiddies Halloween party. recipe sourced from coles.c...

Rhubarb Compote

A delicious taste of spring and summer. This rhubarb compote is quick and easy to make. Add to desserts, on top of breakfast cereal or pancakes. Rhubarb always reminds me of childhood. My mum and gran grew rhubarb in the garden. Once it was ripe enough to eat, we would pour some sugar into a bowl and dip in the rhubarb stalks, then eat!. Munching our way through loads of sugary dipped rhubarb, not the most healthiest of ways to eat it but fun and delicious for us kids, and at least we were getting the goodness from the fruit. Scott came home the other day with an armful of fresh rhubarb from a friends garden. As it is Halloween soon, I thought about making a compote to go with our ghoulish desserts, you know, a blood sort of thing dripping from the hands of creepy zombies etc. Ingredients 3 cups 1/2 inch pieces of rhubarb 1 cup sugar 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice 1/2 Tsp grated ginger Method 1.  Combine all ingredients in a large heavy based saucepa...
