26th January 2024. We got up at 7.30am, showered then had breakfast. It had been raining through the night, it is suppose to be showery today so we will have to dodge the showers.
After breakfast we jumped in the car and headed to Stanley at 9am, arriving at 9.15am, the Nut chairlift didn't open until 9.30am, so we parked and walked to the base of the nut, we hung around for a while taking photos of the view but it was really windy and wasn't sure if the chairlift would be operating.
A couple said that they had walked the first part up to the nut summit and it wasn't too bad of a climb and you got good views, so we decided to go as far as the first climb where the view was stunning.
We then decided to carry on and boy, that was one steep climb!, but we continued up to the summit where the views were spectacular.
We made it!
It was extremely windy and dull, almost knocked you off your feet at times, certainly took your breath away!, but it was still amazing, we wandered around the nut circuit, full of natural beauty. There were so many butterflies playfully flying around us, we also spotted a few Macropods, which are a family of marsupials that includes kangaroos, wallabies, tree kangaroos, wallaroos, pademelons and quokkas. All in all, the whole experience from walking up to the nut and around the track took 1 hour 15 minutes.
Check the size of this ant!, they were all over the ground.
Camouflaged butterflies.
Sheltering from the rain.
Can you tell it was windy!!!
On the way back down.
Part two coming soon.
