DIY Toy Story 4 Bo Peep Halloween Costume

Cerys broached the idea of going as Bo Peep from Toy Story 4 to the Oogie Boogie Bash at Disneyland in October but she thought it would be impossible to try and recreate, I told her nothing is impossible, I will see what I can get from the op shops that I could turn into Bo Peep's costume.

I was on the look out for a similar type of outfit as the doll picture above, a light blue (or white, that I could dye blue) top and trousers I could turn into pantaloons.

11th August 2022, I found this top in the op shop for $4, it was the perfect colour, in the same op shop I also found these blue trousers that matched the top in colour perfectly, seriously, what were the chances of getting both items of clothing the exact same colour from the same shop!.

The following day I found this lace top for $2, I will cut it and sew it to the bodice of the blue top.

I wasn't too fussed about the bottom of the lace being straight as it will be tucked into her trousers so won't be seen. All it needs now is to be ironed.

I cut the feet off old socks of Jodie's and sewed them to make them into the bandages Bo Peep wears on her arms.

For her hair bow I used a rectangle piece of pink felt, folded it in half then folded both halves again, tied some dental floss around the middle then attached a slim piece of felt around the tied middle, I just need to find a hairband to attach it to.

17th August, Spotlight had 30% off haberdashery so I got 2 metres of lace to sew onto the trouser legs, it was $3 per metre, I got it for $2.10.

I spotted this pink headband in the Reject shop on 18th August for $3.50, it will work perfectly.

I stitched the bow to the headband then added a strip of felt to hide the stitching.

I sewed velcro onto pink ribbon (I only had blue velcro and it's not noticeable through the ribbon) to make a sash.

I bought this keychain from one of the Asian pop up gift tables and plan to attach it somewhere on to her costume (after removing Sully as he is from Monsters Inc, not Toy Story 😕😂)

She found a dinosaur back pack in the op shop which she plans to pass off as Rex from Toy Story, I attached the key chain to his claw.

I found this Toy Story Jessie for $1 at the op shop, I will attach it to her Rex bag.

I sewed Jessie onto his arm to make it look like he is carrying her.

I also sewed on a couple of Toy Story labels.

And that is Bo Peep finished and waiting to be worn at Oogie Boogie Bash!

I have been making and completing all of the costumes on and off when time allowed, since finding the items to make them with, Cerys' Bo Peep costume was completed 30th September 2022.

Aussie Pie Floater

With Australia day fast approaching, I had to share this Aussie icon. The pie floater is a meat pie submerged in thick pea soup, the pies are traditionally turned upside down sitting or sometimes submerged in the pea soup. The first time I had ever heard of this was while watching an episode of Billy Connolly's Australian tour. He was doing a show in Adelaide and indulged in one of these south Aussie icons. We tried a similar thing called a tiger pie from Harry's Cafe de Wheels on the Sydney harbour, the Tiger is a meat pie served with scoop of mash a scoop of mushy peas and a scoop of gravy, it was really delicious.  A pie floater put simply is a meat pie on top of or covered in green pea soup with a choice of sauce squirted on top, the usual being ketchup, brown sauce, mint sauce, gravy or bbq sauce, some people also enjoy vinegar over their floater, I suppose the options can be endless, whatever 'floats' your pie!!. I searched a few variou...

Hickory-Honey Ham...Christmas With The Kranks

I got this Christmas movie cookbook during our 2022 holiday to LA see  here  and I still haven't made anything from it, so for our Christmas in July, I thought I would try the Hickory-Honey ham from the movie Christmas with The Kranks. Scenes from the movie where Nora is running towards the last ham in the store, only to be outsmarted by an elderly lady. I managed to get a couple of reduced shoulder hams from woolies back in May so this gave me an excuse to try a recipe from the book. We also got some Hickory smoking chips for the BBQ. It is a ham that has been smoked over Hickory wood chips for several hours, served with a honey gravy, not out of a tin which it is in the movie. Ingredients 8 cups hickory or other hardwood chips 2 large aluminum foil pans 1 (4kg) fully cooked  bone in ham 1/4 cup salted butter 1 shallot, minced 1/3 cup honey 1/4 cup dark brown sugar 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar 1 tbsp wholegrain mustard 1 tsp ground ginger 1/...
