Melbourne Day 3, 24th September 2022

Our final day in Melbourne!

On the morning of the 24th September 2022 we all got up, washed, and packed for our check-out time of 10am. Our flight was originally scheduled to leave at 7.15pm so we had the whole day to spend in Melbourne.

We went shopping at the Highpoint shopping centre then headed over to a Krispy Kreme store! We all got coffees while Jodie got a Milkshake and 2 donuts for later; Reese's Peanut Butter Cheesecake, and Chocolate Hazelnut 🍩

Afterwards we headed off to Northland shopping centre for more shopping, had sushi for lunch, Jodie spotted this amazing skull Halloween shirt for Scott in the first TK Maxx we went to but unfortunately they didn't have it in his size but she finally found one that fitted in the 3rd TK Maxx we visited, Cerys got a new pair of trainers, Halloween socks for Jodie, and a couple of mugs for myself. After lunch we went to DFO outlet at Uni hill.

While we were shopping Scott got a call from the airline to say our flight had been delayed by an hour, was now with Qantas instead of Jetstar, and that they would send the new flight information through to us.

We then took a drive to Starbucks where Jodie (aka Godian 😂) got a Green Tea Frappuccino, and Cerys (aka Kares 😂) got a Green Tea Iced Latte.

Afterwards, we dropped the car off at the hire place, caught an Uber to Melbourne Airport, and started distributing the weight in our carry-on luggage, where I managed to break one of the mugs I bought earlier 😭 I was devastated.

Once all that was sorted we headed over the the Qantas check-in to collect our new boarding passes, but were met with confusion, as they didn't have a flight leaving to Hobart at that time. Another worker overheard the conversation and directed us to Virgin Airlines as they had another passenger with the same problem. We finally got our boarding passes for the flight home, and had plenty of time, so we went to the food court to grab a drink and something to eat.

After a while, Scott noticed the schedule board said our flight gate was actually at the other end of the airport; at gate 10 instead of gate 2 as advised. He also noticed it said the gate was closing - even though we didn't hear a boarding announcement! We grabbed our things and ran to the other end of the airport, hearing an announcement for the stragglers of that exact flight, of which our names were not listed. We reached the gate, scanned our boarding passes, and were on the flight! We had to squeeze our luggage into the overhead compartments a few rows away from us, as there was very little room left, being the last few people on the flight.

The flight took off at 8:25pm, and we landed in Hobart an hour later.

(Whaaat!, we don't get fancy crockery or designer glasses on the flight! 😕😂)

We have never been happier to reach home 😅

Aussie Pie Floater

With Australia day fast approaching, I had to share this Aussie icon. The pie floater is a meat pie submerged in thick pea soup, the pies are traditionally turned upside down sitting or sometimes submerged in the pea soup. The first time I had ever heard of this was while watching an episode of Billy Connolly's Australian tour. He was doing a show in Adelaide and indulged in one of these south Aussie icons. We tried a similar thing called a tiger pie from Harry's Cafe de Wheels on the Sydney harbour, the Tiger is a meat pie served with scoop of mash a scoop of mushy peas and a scoop of gravy, it was really delicious.  A pie floater put simply is a meat pie on top of or covered in green pea soup with a choice of sauce squirted on top, the usual being ketchup, brown sauce, mint sauce, gravy or bbq sauce, some people also enjoy vinegar over their floater, I suppose the options can be endless, whatever 'floats' your pie!!. I searched a few variou...

How cute are these guys!!, super easy to make and perfect for kiddies Christmas parties. I didn't bother weighing and measuring the ingredients, just go with how much you plan to make, it's that simple. All you need are a few items, if you don't have any of these to hand you can always improvise, instead of the candy eyes use white and milk chocolate, pretzels can be used for the legs as well as the antlers. Ingredients mini chocolate rolls white melting chocolate red and brown mini M & M's icing eyes milk chocolate melts pretzels chocolate matchsticks Method 1.  Melt some white chocolate melts according to packet directions.
