Melbourne... Day 2

We got up around 8 am, to be honest none of us got a good sleep, the noise from the trams in the street outside our apartment went on all night but at least we got up early!!. After breakfast we walked to Myer to look around the Harry Potter floor which was deck'd out in Harry Potter props with lots of toys, gift wear, clothing and apparel. We stopped in past the Minotaur store for a quick look as Myer didn't open until 9.30 am.

To her dismay, Jodie found a Donald Trump picture 😃

Minotaur is full of amazing pop culture paraphernalia.

Next stop, Myer

I had hoped to get some photos of Cerys dressed up like Jodie but sadly it wasn't to be, it took me ages to convince her to get this picture taken, very upsetting when I think back to the confident girl she once was, always willing to get her photo taken 😟.

After Myer, we had a wander around then went into the Spencer outlet for a look around.

We then walked to Rainbow Toastie so the girls could try the rainbow cheese toastie, below are a few photos on the way.

We walked back to the apartment to drop off the items we had bought and pick up the car as we had planned to go to Ikea for a hot dog ( we always have an Ikea hot dog when we are close to an Ikea ) Cerys wanted to play a few games of dominoes first so it was nice to relax.

We then jumped in the car and headed to Ikea, after our lunch we had a quick wander round then back to the car for a short stop at St Kilda, I wanted to take photos at Luna Park but unfortunately it didn't open until 7.30 pm.

The drive to St Kilda was only 9.7 km from Ikea but the traffic was horrendous, it took us 45 minutes to get there!!

We only found a parking spot for 30 minutes so it was a quick walk around the block really, starting at Luna Park then round in a circle through a little part of the beach back to the car.

It was pretty overcast but very warm.

There were a few of these signs painted on the pathways.

We returned to the apartment so the girls could rest before the show.

Scott and I prefer to keep on the go so we dropped them off and went out to get the a Starbucks and krispy kreme.

Now these cereals are the most expensive cereal I have ever bought!!, they spotted these in one of the local shops, they have had these several times while we were in the USA but never at these prices!! $12.99 AUS each!!....WHAT!!! 😲

After a wander around we went back to the apartment to get the girls organised and fed before the show, we had enough time to chill with a cold glass of beer and wine 😜🍺🍷

We walked to the theatre to drop the girls off at 7.15 pm, the show started at 7.30 pm, they bought a couple of souvenirs, they both got a baseball cap, Cerys got a drink bottle and Jodie got a couple of magnets.

Scott and I went looking for somewhere to have our tea, we came across Betty's Burgers, it looked really nice, I loved the interior, very 50s diner.

We both decided on the lobster roll, it was delicious, chunky bits of real lobster!

After we finished we strolled about for a while before collecting the girls at 10 pm.

I was delighted when Cerys agreed to get her photo taken with Jodie 🙌

And even more delighted when Jodie sent me through these photos she had taken 💗. They had an awesome time, lots of laughs and excitement, just what they needed.

Aussie Pie Floater

With Australia day fast approaching, I had to share this Aussie icon. The pie floater is a meat pie submerged in thick pea soup, the pies are traditionally turned upside down sitting or sometimes submerged in the pea soup. The first time I had ever heard of this was while watching an episode of Billy Connolly's Australian tour. He was doing a show in Adelaide and indulged in one of these south Aussie icons. We tried a similar thing called a tiger pie from Harry's Cafe de Wheels on the Sydney harbour, the Tiger is a meat pie served with scoop of mash a scoop of mushy peas and a scoop of gravy, it was really delicious.  A pie floater put simply is a meat pie on top of or covered in green pea soup with a choice of sauce squirted on top, the usual being ketchup, brown sauce, mint sauce, gravy or bbq sauce, some people also enjoy vinegar over their floater, I suppose the options can be endless, whatever 'floats' your pie!!. I searched a few variou...

Reindeer Mini Chocolate Rolls

How cute are these guys!!, super easy to make and perfect for kiddies Christmas parties. I didn't bother weighing and measuring the ingredients, just go with how much you plan to make, it's that simple. All you need are a few items, if you don't have any of these to hand you can always improvise, instead of the candy eyes use white and milk chocolate, pretzels can be used for the legs as well as the antlers. Ingredients mini chocolate rolls white melting chocolate red and brown mini M & M's icing eyes milk chocolate melts pretzels chocolate matchsticks Method 1.  Melt some white chocolate melts according to packet directions.
