Scott and I had received a gift voucher for Smolt Restaurant in Salamanca, Hobart as a joint Christmas gift from Darren, yes it has taken this long to actually use it!!, but we did intentionally leave it to use on a winters evening, something to look forward to during the long winter months.
We booked a table for Saturday 15th July at 7 pm. We were seated and given the menu, the staff were very friendly and attentive, nothing was too much bother.
The food sounded divine, it was a difficult choice, I settled for the grilled salmon, quinoa, spanner crab, cauliflower and parsley gel.
Scott had Tasmanian grass fed steak, sauteed mushrooms, potato puree, jus, black garlic and parmesan onion rings, we shared a couple of sides of crisp potatoes, rosemary salt, aioli and sauteed brussel sprouts with prosciutto di parma, it was absolutely delicious.
We also enjoyed a glass of wine each. It was a lovely relaxing evening just the two of us, thanks to our lovely thoughtful boy, one of the best Christmas present ever!
