Ingredients
300 g mozzarella cheese block (approx)
1 egg
60 g plain flour
60 ml milk
70 g herb & garlic breadcrumbs
(use plain breadcrumbs if preferred)
2 - 3 cups oil for frying
Method
1. Beat the egg and milk together in a shallow dish. Place flour in another dish and season with salt and pepper. Place the breadcrumbs in a third dish.
2. Slice mozzarella block into 8 approx 2-3 cm sticks. Dip each stick into egg mix, then into flour, then back into egg, making sure the cheese is evenly coated with each dip. Finally dredge each stick in breadcrumbs. Place coated cheese sticks onto a plate and into the freezer, freeze for at least 2 hours.
3. Heat oil in a wok or deep pan, over a medium heat. Once hot, but not too hot, fry 3-4 sticks at a time until golden brown.
Serve immediately with your choice of dipping sauce.
