Apple Crumble

My family LOVE apple crumble, it is so easy and quick to make, not to mention tasty, great as a winter warmer served with warm custard or on warmer days serve with cream or ice cream.

Ingredients
APPLE MIXTURE..

4 apples, peeled, cored and quartered
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp caster sugar
1/4 Tsp cinnamon (optional)
1/4 cup water

Method

1.  Preheat oven at 180° C.

2.  Combine above ingredients in a pan. Cook over a low-med heat, stirring occasionally until apples are slightly softened.

3.  Drain off most of the liquid then place apples into a pie dish and distribute evenly.

Ingredients
CRUMBLE TOPPING..

1/2 cup plain flour
1/4 cup wholemeal flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
75 g cold butter, chopped
1/3 cup caster sugar

Method

1.  Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl, add butter. Using your fingertips, rub the butter into dry mixture until it resembles breadcrumbs.

2.  Sprinkle crumble topping evenly over the apple mixture. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden.

3. Serve warm with your choice of topping.

Enjoy.
