First Project Of 2025

Our first project of 2025 was cutting down the size of our dining table, it was just too big and I was toying with the idea of getting a smaller one because I was over having such a big table encroaching on space in the kitchen, but they are just so expensive and there was nothing wrong with our one. I put the idea across to Scott of possibly cutting our one down in size, he said it should be easy enough, so that's what we did.

Silly me, I forgot to take before photo's!, but you get the gist of how further past the bench it was with this photo of it lying upside down.

Scott cut 150 mm off the length and 130 mm off the width.

And trimmed the decorative edges so they would fit back on the cut table.

He nailed the edges back on.

That has taken the size from 1650 mm length and 900 mm width to 1500 mm length and 780 mm width, so it's more compact and less intrusive.

Oh, and there is no show without punch!, Hamish waiting at the door for me to come in 😂

Aussie Pie Floater

With Australia day fast approaching, I had to share this Aussie icon. The pie floater is a meat pie submerged in thick pea soup, the pies are traditionally turned upside down sitting or sometimes submerged in the pea soup. The first time I had ever heard of this was while watching an episode of Billy Connolly's Australian tour. He was doing a show in Adelaide and indulged in one of these south Aussie icons. We tried a similar thing called a tiger pie from Harry's Cafe de Wheels on the Sydney harbour, the Tiger is a meat pie served with scoop of mash a scoop of mushy peas and a scoop of gravy, it was really delicious. Reindeer Mini Chocolate Rolls

How cute are these guys!!, super easy to make and perfect for kiddies Christmas parties. I didn't bother weighing and measuring the ingredients, just go with how much you plan to make, it's that simple.
