Dangerfield Haul

Cerys sent me through this advert by Dangerfield, an expensive clothing store that the girls love, it sounded too good to miss, it was advertised to start at 9 am, 26th April. Jodie was working that day so was pretty miffed when Cerys said she was going, so I said that I would stand in for Jodie in the hope that I would get stuff that she liked, it was pretty easy as I know the kind of style she likes, it was the sizing I was more worried about as she would not be able to try them on.

We arrived at 8.20 am to join the queue, as we were hoping to be in the first 50 so that we could fill a bag for just $50. Whilst in the queue, we found out that the store actually opened at 10 am, not 9 am as advertised, so we had longer to wait than we originally thought, but we were in the first 50 people!.

Messages sent to Scott while in the outside queue.

Patiently waiting for 10 am to arrive!

We are on the move!

We were supplied with a bag, it was larger than we thought it would be.

The queue to pay was horrendous.

I started queuing just before 10.50 am, I took this photo after I joined the queue.

Cerys was a few people in front of me as she was supposed to start work at 11 am, it was originally her day off but they asked if she could go in as there were a lot of staff sick, of course, we had thought that it opened at 9 am so she would have plenty of time to get to work for 11 am.

But, because of the length of the queue, I managed to find more stuff along the way, so by the time I had finally reached the till point, my bag was full to bursting!.

I started queuing at 10.50 am and was finally served at 1.30 pm!, I was in that queue for 2 hours 40 minutes!!!.

But, I managed to get 2 bags worth of stuff in one single bag.

Yep, Hamish will not be left out!.

Jodie was very impressed with the haul I got for her, especially the leather jacket, and everything fitted her absolutely perfectly.

We set about calculating the original prices of the items and were amazed by how much it came to, the leather jacket alone was originally $258, cardigans were $78, dresses $98, skirts $68-$88, blouses $58, knitted tops $68, etc.

My total came to an impressive $2,114, which I got for just $50!!!. Cerys scored $1,106 worth of items also for $50, so it was well worth the time spent waiting and queuing, the both practically got a full new wardrobe worth of clothing for $50 each, not to be sniffed at eh!.

Aussie Pie Floater

With Australia day fast approaching, I had to share this Aussie icon. The pie floater is a meat pie submerged in thick pea soup, the pies are traditionally turned upside down sitting or sometimes submerged in the pea soup. The first time I had ever heard of this was while watching an episode of Billy Connolly's Australian tour. He was doing a show in Adelaide and indulged in one of these south Aussie icons. We tried a similar thing called a tiger pie from Harry's Cafe de Wheels on the Sydney harbour, the Tiger is a meat pie served with scoop of mash a scoop of mushy peas and a scoop of gravy, it was really delicious.  A pie floater put simply is a meat pie on top of or covered in green pea soup with a choice of sauce squirted on top, the usual being ketchup, brown sauce, mint sauce, gravy or bbq sauce, some people also enjoy vinegar over their floater, I suppose the options can be endless, whatever 'floats' your pie!!. I searched a few variou...
