Scott made me the Palm Springs pink door for my pink Christmas tree, and it is just perfect!!

It is no secret I have a HUGE crush on Palm Springs and anything to do with it. We have been very fortunate to visit there twice, last time Scott and I went on the lookout for the Instagram famous coloured doors, the pink one being the favourite.

"That Pink Door" situated in East Sierra Way, Palm Springs has been an Instagram favourite for years now and isn't it gorgeous. An oversized front door in a stunning bubble gum pink colour, worthy of it's own hashtag! has the appearance of a chocolate bar.

As I am putting up a pink tree this year, I thought I would give Scott the task of making a Pink Door ornament to hang on my pink tree.

Using his circular saw, he cut the door shape and grooved out the square pattern on the front.

He then sanded the edges and gave it a couple of coats of undercoat before spraying it with a couple of coats of pink.

Obviously with it being miniature in size, making an exact replica by hand was going to be near impossible as with the door handle, so he fashioned the handle out of a pretty hair slide we found in an op shop.

He measured the size before cutting it and bending it to shape.

He then used hot glue to fix it to the door.

There we have it!, just what I wanted and absolutely picture perfect 👌

Aussie Pie Floater

With Australia day fast approaching, I had to share this Aussie icon. The pie floater is a meat pie submerged in thick pea soup, the pies are traditionally turned upside down sitting or sometimes submerged in the pea soup. The first time I had ever heard of this was while watching an episode of Billy Connolly's Australian tour. He was doing a show in Adelaide and indulged in one of these south Aussie icons. We tried a similar thing called a tiger pie from Harry's Cafe de Wheels on the Sydney harbour, the Tiger is a meat pie served with scoop of mash a scoop of mushy peas and a scoop of gravy, it was really delicious. How cute are these guys!!, super easy to make and perfect for kiddies Christmas parties. I didn't bother weighing and measuring the ingredients, just go with how much you plan to make, it's that simple. All you need are a few items, if you don't have any of these to hand you can always improvise, instead of the candy eyes use white and milk chocolate, pretzels can be used for the legs as well as the antlers.
