A couple of weekends ago, Scott and I decided to go to Launceston for an overnight stay.
After arriving and checking into our hotel room, we drove to The Cataract Gorge where we took a leisurely stroll around the gardens, over the suspension bridge, checking out the wildlife that resides here.
We hopped on the Gorge scenic chairlift which spans 457 metres with amazing views of this ancient rock gorge and South Esk River, it is believed to be the longest single span chairlift in the world.
Before returning to our hotel we enjoyed refreshments at the cafe.
We went to the Tram Bar Lounge for our tea.
Next morning we ate breakfast at the hotel, it was a buffet with lot's of choice from fruits and cereal to full cooked breakfast. I had overnight soaked oats with fresh fruit, Scott enjoyed choosing from the cooked breakfast choice.
After we finished breakfast we checked out and did some more exploring before heading home.
First up we visited Penny Royal (see my previous post for more details)
We wandered across King's Bridge at the mouth of the Cataract Gorge stopping to take photos of the gorge.
We jumped back in the car for the drive to Grindelwald, a small Swiss style village just north of Launceston.
Grindelwald Chapel stands by Lake Louise.
Once we had finished exploring, we started our journey home. We had a lovely time, it was great to have this time to ourselves. Now that the kids are older Scott and I are making a conscience effort to take more time doing things as a couple, we are one of those couples that genuinely enjoy each others company and spending time as a couple. We have never had the chance to do things like this very often so this year we decided to make some time for ourselves, just some time every now and then to get away from the day to day routines that keeps us busy all year round.
