Fittie...Footdee

Footdee is an old fishing village at the east end of the Aberdeen harbour. Footdee is lovingly known as "Fittie" by the locals, (we grew up with it always called Fittie). This quaint village is full of small charming and well preserved granite cottages and townhouses, some even have colourful themes and collections of eccentric quirky objects.  This charming and unique 19th century former fishing village community takes you back in time, it is like walking through the bygone days. A dinky square full of tiny cottages all facing inward as shelter from the sea, this is one of the must places to visit whilst in Aberdeen. April 2018 How uncanny are these two photos taken almost 10 years apart!!, it wasn't until I started looking through the old pics that I noticed this one! June 2008 It is surprisingly quiet and sheltered despite the fact that it backs on to the often wild North sea. ...

Whisky Sauce

This is great accompaniment for meat dishes. Scott made this to go with our Burns night meal of haggis, neeps and tatties  here but it also goes well with steak, pork or chicken. Ingredients 200 ml thickened cream 1 tsp wholegrain mustard 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard 1 tsp whisky 1/2 tbsp fresh or dried chives 1/4 lemon, juice only Method 1.  Heat cream in a pan over a medium heat. Add wholegrain mustard, Dijon mustard and whisky, stir to combine. Increase the heat until mixture is simmering and continue to cook for 1-2 minutes. 2.  Remove pan from heat and season, to taste, with salt and pepper. Stir in chives, then whisk in the lemon juice. Enjoy. recipe sourced and slightly adapted from  here

Wedding Weekend at Piperdam

Family and friends of Caroline and Graeme spent the weekend at Piperdam for their upcoming wedding on the Saturday 28th April 2018.  Set in 650 acres of idyllic Angus countryside, Piperdam, combines superb luxury accommodation and award winning facilities. With a wide range of lodges everyone managed to get one that catered for their family. Scott, I and the kids shared the Vegas spa plus lodge with Grandma and Caroline's friend Diane, as their was plenty of room, this lodge sleeps 12, the hair and makeup girls also spent the Friday night at the other side of the lodge. This place was amazing, there was a snooker table, roulette table and card games and a private outdoor hot-tub, as well as a fully equipped kitchen and 6 ensuite bedrooms. The girls had a great time playing pool with their cousins. On the Friday evening before the wedding most of us congregated at Allan and Margaret's chalet, their...
