Dover is the southernmost town of it's size in Australia, located on the western shores towards the southern end of the D'Entrecasteaux Channel, just south of the Huon Valley, southwest of Hobart, on the head of Port Esperance in Tasmania.
Scott and I headed there for the weekend of 25th January 2025. The kids were wanting a games/pool day with Ryan so we decided to leave them alone and have a mini adventure ourselves.
We booked a couple of nights at the Smugglers Rest in Dover. Nothing fancy, it did the job for what we needed.
I made our lunch prior to leaving, so we sat in the garden and ate it before heading out to explore.
It was dull and overcast when we headed to Southport for a stroll along the beach.
We also had a wander along Roaring beach on Southport.
We then went to the local IGA for a couple of things.
I bought Tasmanian bacon for our breakfast.
We went back to the Smugglers Rest to relax before tea.
As it was Burns Nicht, I made Haggis, neeps and tatties for our tea.
We settled down to watch Saw.
