Around Here Lately......

Cerys woke up 25th October 2023 with extremely swollen, red and sticky eyes, which I instantly knew it was conjunctivitis, knowing we wouldn't be able to get an appointment with the doctor, my first thought was to go to the chemist, but then I had a thought of taking her to the opticians.

This photo was taken after treatment, her eyes were way worse than this!

Fortunately the optician was able to see us, after examining her, he diagnosed viral conjunctivitis, the most contagious strain, (the other is bacterial). He made up an iodine solution to wash her eyes out with to help minimise the infection.

She had to move her eyes in various directions for a few seconds so the solution could get to every part of her eyeball.

He then rinsed her eyes out with water.

I had to go home and sterilise everything she had touched, also wash her bedding, and  clothes that she has recently worn. She will remain contagious as long as her eyes stay red. It can last 2-3 weeks.
