Hamish's Paw Print Keepsake DIY

I had been thinking about doing a paw print keepsake of Hamish for Jodie for a while now but never got round to it but after her friend Porsha's dog Peppy passed away I decided that the time was right as he is now 11 years old and I would regret not doing it if anything were to happen to him. We proceeded with it on 22nd November 2019.

I bought some air dry modelling clay and rolled it into small balls then flattened them slightly with a rolling pin, I then proceeded to gently but firmly press his paw into the clay, Cerys was on hand with treats for afterwards 😜

I was pleasantly surprised as to how well they turned out as he wasn't much keen on being held in place.

Once they were dry, I painted them with a light blue colour and finished them off with a little blue glitter.

I bought a baby keepsake frame as I knew Jodie would get a laugh out of this as he is her baby!

I added his name and the date as well as a lock of his fur.

I stuck the paw prints to some blue card that I had placed behind the frame and a photo of him taken the day we did the prints.

Not sure if he was too impressed by all the palaver looking at the first photo 👅

Jodie will be getting this as a gift for Christmas as although he became part of the family in November 2008, he was her Christmas gift of 2008, I am sure she is going to love and treasure it forever.

Opening it on Christmas morning

Aussie Pie Floater

With Australia day fast approaching, I had to share this Aussie icon. The pie floater is a meat pie submerged in thick pea soup, the pies are traditionally turned upside down sitting or sometimes submerged in the pea soup. The first time I had ever heard of this was while watching an episode of Billy Connolly's Australian tour. He was doing a show in Adelaide and indulged in one of these south Aussie icons. We tried a similar thing called a tiger pie from Harry's Cafe de Wheels on the Sydney harbour, the Tiger is a meat pie served with scoop of mash a scoop of mushy peas and a scoop of gravy, it was really delicious.  A pie floater put simply is a meat pie on top of or covered in green pea soup with a choice of sauce squirted on top, the usual being ketchup, brown sauce, mint sauce, gravy or bbq sauce, some people also enjoy vinegar over their floater, I suppose the options can be endless, whatever 'floats' your pie!!. I searched a few variou...
