More Cactus Gardens!

Yep!, just when you thought I was done with building cactus gardens you were wrong!. The reason behind this new ones (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! 😁), is the fact that I have so many cactus and succulents, they are all from cuttings of my original cacti and I don't want them to go to waste, anyway, these new gardens are now part of our seating area (see post  here  ), it had become a place where my cactus cutting sat so we thought that we would use this space to build new gardens so that I could get them planted. We used breeze blocks that we found on Facebook Marketplace, which Scott spray painted white. We bought them to use in the front cactus garden but we had a few left over. Scott also removed the breeze blocks that we originally had to decorate the top of the seating area and replaced them with the same ones that we used for the cactus garden, we only had a limited amount of the original ones, so they didn't go all the way across the seating area, ...

Repotting Large Prickly Pear

I was doing some decluttering of my garden beds which had become a bit over grown, I also wanted this guy in his own pot to give it more room for growth. (25th March 2023)AZ I couldn't find a large enough pot to rehome it when Scott suggested we use our old fire pit which we were intending to get rid of. It took a few bags of cactus mix to fill it up but I am hoping it will thrive better in a pot of it's own. It wasn't easy to get it out of it's original spot, we had to do a lot of teasing of the roots as it had worked it's way along the whole bed, but we eventually got it free, although it was very heavy. Not to mention deadly!! And I noticed a couple of days ago that it is growing a new bud.

Fruit And Nut Rock Cakes

I had some mixed nuts, sultanas and raisins leftover from Christmas and I didn't want to make another cake, so these small guys sprung to mind. I used to love making rock cakes as a child (obviously minus the nuts) and haven't made them in a while so figured these would be perfect to add the fruit and nut mix. Ingredients 200g self raising flour pinch of salt 100g cold butter, cubed 80g sugar 100g mixed nuts, fruit 1 egg milk to mix Method 1.  Preheat oven to 200°C, 180 ° C Fan. Grease a baking tray. 2.  Mix the flour and salt, rub in the butter. Stir in sugar, mixed nuts and fruit. 3.  Mix to a stiff dough with the eggs and milk, gradually adding milk until the desired consistency. 4.  Place in rough heaps on a greased baking tray. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
