Back Garden Update Part Two

19th October 2021, Scott got some cement sheet to cover the wooden planks around the garden bed.

21st October we got more gravel delivered and Scott also got some more pavers.

He laid the other pavers and we carried bucket loads of gravel from the front up to the back.

As it had been raining all of Saturday 23rd October and most of Sunday we didn't get much done. We moved some more of the gravel from the front later on the Sunday afternoon when it finally gave up raining for a little while!! and placed out what pavers we had left.

Saturday 30th October 2021, Scott rendered and painted the walls of the garden bed.

30th October 2021, someone's paw prints on wet cement again!! 🐶🐾🙈

Does he look bothered?? 👆👇

At least her blends in well with our colour scheme! 😜

31st October 2021, we carried more pebbles up from the front and I planted some plants.

Not only are our pavers Hamish coloured they are Hamish size! 😂

6th November 2021, Scott bedded down the stepping stones.

We also carried more bucket loads of gravel up from the front.

Sunday 7th November we concentrated on tiling the steps.

We played about with them until we got the desired effect we were after.

Then started to lay them.

They just have to set and dry now.

Cordoned off so nobody steps on them.

Once they were dry, the grouting began.

There is still some bits to finish, but don't they look stunning! 😍

We had four tiles left over so we decided to use them to resurface the table.

20th November, another weekend of rain!!. In between showers Scott dismantled the steps to create new ones.

Sunday 21st November, Scott grouted the tiles on the table.

He reused the wooden beams from our other seating area to fill in the steps ready to add the tiles.

5th December 2021, we finally got back to the steps and laid the tiles.

12th December 2021, we repotted more cacti into the garden beds.

Stay tuned for part three!

Aussie Pie Floater

With Australia day fast approaching, I had to share this Aussie icon. The pie floater is a meat pie submerged in thick pea soup, the pies are traditionally turned upside down sitting or sometimes submerged in the pea soup. The first time I had ever heard of this was while watching an episode of Billy Connolly's Australian tour. He was doing a show in Adelaide and indulged in one of these south Aussie icons. We tried a similar thing called a tiger pie from Harry's Cafe de Wheels on the Sydney harbour, the Tiger is a meat pie served with scoop of mash a scoop of mushy peas and a scoop of gravy, it was really delicious.  A pie floater put simply is a meat pie on top of or covered in green pea soup with a choice of sauce squirted on top, the usual being ketchup, brown sauce, mint sauce, gravy or bbq sauce, some people also enjoy vinegar over their floater, I suppose the options can be endless, whatever 'floats' your pie!!. I searched a few variou...

I didn't bother weighing and measuring the ingredients, just go with how much you plan to make, it's that simple. All you need are a few items, if you don't have any of these to hand you can always improvise, instead of the candy eyes use white and milk chocolate, pretzels can be used for the legs as well as the antlers.
