Around Here Lately....

We have been having a bit of an update to our windows, we are renewing the window foil on our living room windows as it was really noticeable when we put it on the downstairs window, I am not sure if the ones upstairs had faded through the years as they were certainly more noticeably "see through" as apposed to the original mirror finish.

The original window foil versus..

The new foil....wow, what a difference!!

We also decided it was time to get rid of the cream vertical blinds, we wanted something fresher and less cluttered looking, so we opted for simple white roller blinds.

I got this stunning curtains for half price from Spotlight to which we added some cascading waterfall lights behind it which gives a really romantic cosy feel to the room.

31st July, we started taking the old foil off the living room windows to replace it with the new foil. It was really difficult to get off in one piece, leaving residue that had to be scraped off.

So we had a brainwave to see if heating it up would work better, and voila!!, it did!.

Taking the old foil off.

Without and with the foil.

1st August we had planned to give the outdoor window frames a coat of white paint but needless to say it was raining again, seriously, we are all going to grow webbed feet shortly!

We still had to replace the foil on the side windows of our bedroom so that's what we did instead, although it proved extremely time consuming as even with using the heat from the hairdryer to remove the film, the adhesive stuck fast to the glass so it had to be painstakingly removed by soaking, rubbing and scraping with a sharp blade.

We also put the foil on Jodie's bedroom windows.

Last but not least, Hamish making sure everything is getting done correctly!

Aussie Pie Floater

With Australia day fast approaching, I had to share this Aussie icon. The pie floater is a meat pie submerged in thick pea soup, the pies are traditionally turned upside down sitting or sometimes submerged in the pea soup. The first time I had ever heard of this was while watching an episode of Billy Connolly's Australian tour. He was doing a show in Adelaide and indulged in one of these south Aussie icons. We tried a similar thing called a tiger pie from Harry's Cafe de Wheels on the Sydney harbour, the Tiger is a meat pie served with scoop of mash a scoop of mushy peas and a scoop of gravy, it was really delicious.  A pie floater put simply is a meat pie on top of or covered in green pea soup with a choice of sauce squirted on top, the usual being ketchup, brown sauce, mint sauce, gravy or bbq sauce, some people also enjoy vinegar over their floater, I suppose the options can be endless, whatever 'floats' your pie!!. I searched a few variou...
